Private Pilot Training

The Private Pilot License is often referred to as the "license to learn". It is your ticket into the aviation community where you will learn how to exercise your privilege as Pilot-In-Command. With this privilege comes a great deal of responsibility. The training is geared to provide you with a solid foundation for a lifetime of safe, efficient, and fun flying. The training includes both ground and flight training.

Ground training consists of learning about the fundamentals of flight, aircraft systems, aerodynamics, the flight environment (including safety of flight principles, airports, charts, airspace, communication systems, ATC, sources of flight information), meteorology for pilots, interpreting weather information, determining airplane performance, navigation principles, cross-country flying, flight physiology, human factors, and aeronautical decision making.

Flight training is organized into three phases: In the Pre-Solo Phase, you will acquire the basic skills to maneuver the airplane on the ground and in the air, and safely takeoff and land by yourself. In the Post-Solo/Cross-Country Phase, you will learn how to navigate from point A to point B, and complete the required aeronautical experience for the license. Finally in the Checkride Preparation Phase, you will hone and fine tune your skills in preparation for the final FAA practical test, otherwise referred to as the Checkride.
